We always try to share experiences, but there are times when we want to give a little more detail. Although fighting leukemia at age 7, Hazel’s love of cooking never wavered. Naturally, her experience was to meet Oklahoma’s own Pioneer Woman, Ree Drummond.
Hazel and her crew traveled to Ms. Drummond’s house in Pawhuska, where Hazel cooked lunch with her role model and enjoyed the natural landscape.
Of course, Hazel could not leave without some cooking essentials, including an autographed cookbook.
Lunch was not the end of Hazel’s adventure. Ree arranged for her to go on a shopping trip at the Mercantile, where she was able to pick out more goodies. It is experiences like this that stay with children and their families, and we hope to share more with you soon. Contact us if you have any questions about The Mack Impact.
